Hiten Versus Shukuchi

Season 2, Episode 27, Aired
EDIT

Episode Summary

Kenshin finally confronts Seta Soujirou, the one who broke Kenshin's old sakabatou.''Soujirou's foot speed is greater than even Kenshin's "shinsoku" (God speed), for Soujirou's speed is in the realm of "shukuchi" (reduced land). To Kenshin and the others, Soujirou's speed seems close to teleportation. Kenshin barely manages to fend off Soujirou's attacks, and without the ability to read his opponents next move by judging the others feelings and emotions, Kenshin realizes he is in big trouble.moreless

  • We see Soujiro verses Kenshin...

    9.5
    "Superb"
The episode was kind of a little too flash-backy for me but it was okay... I wonder if when Soujiro's sandle broke was it an accident...? The fighting was ok and all, Soujiro must seriously be the fastest person alive, like, faster than the Flash! Too dodge Kenshin's ultimate move like that, and two steps behind his ultimate move to... wow. I wonder what Soujiro is like with his emotions, and will he get them back or just kill Kenshin? Bleh... and the flasback with Soujiro was ok to. We also saw a little preview of Kaoru, Misao and Katamari... a five second preview, that is. I hope the next episode has a lot of fast paced action, then!moreless

  • Seta and Kenshin fight.

    8.3
    "Great"
Seta's no care and emotionless aditude is amusing to watch. A lack of emotion is good TV. It lessens Seta's horrible crimes of the past and causes him to seem cute.

If Seta is lacking emotions then how can he feel regret and confusion for not finishing off Kenshin. This is one of many instances when Seta actually shows emotion. He is not truely lacking emotion therefore this provides a chance for Kenshin.

Kenshin seems far from the foolish and lightharded man he use to be. After injury to injury this loveable character has changed for the worse. After also this pain it's up in the air whether he can change back.moreless

    • The Japanese title of this episode is Hiten versus Shukuchi: Soujirou, God's Gift to Nature. Edit
    • Actually, Sanosuke was not present at the battle between Kenshin and Senkaku. Saitou and Misao were. Sanosuke was still trying to find Kyoto. However, Soujiro gives enough details in his remarks regarding that fight that Sano comes to his own conclusions. In fact, in the dialogue, Sano easily surmises exactly what actually happened. It may be poor storytelling, but it's perfectly in character for Sano to be able to answer that question, which serves to illustrate how well Sano understands Kenshin. Edit
    • "Sano says it was to save Senkaku's life (how he know's this, I have no idea)" Back in the episode with Kenshin's fight with Senkaku, Shishio told Senkaku he would kill him if Kenshin used no techniques from Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu in this battle. Sano was there watching that fight and overheard this. Edit

    • Senkaku: (to Soujiro) Kenshin Himura is more complex. There's more to his character than strenght alone. Edit
    • Sanosuke: Hey, what was that move he just did? Yumi: I... I don't know. Sanosuke: What!? You've been yapping he's so strong, so strong! Yumi: I just said that because Lord Shishio said so! Edit
    • Soujiro: You've gotten better, Mr. Himura. You were strong to begin with, it's amazing that you got even stronger. But it's also strange. I just don't understand how someone like you can be so strong. Edit
