Kenshin: Time will pass. And as you become an adult, these small hands will grow. When that happens, do not become a man who uses power to intimidate others, like Shishio and his men. And do not be a fearful man, afraid to fight for what he believes in either, like the people of this village. Be a man like your elder brother, who believed in you until the very end. I guarantee that you'll live a happy life, that I do.
Saitoh: It doesn't matter if you kill him now. Either way this guy is going to end up on the execution stand with the added bonus of torture. You'll prefer it over delivering the final blow to an unconscious man. It's a much more painful way to go. Misao: He's a demon.
Saito: I'm afraid that we're going, taking Eiji with us is out of the question. I think the best thing to do is to let him stay with Tokio and once things settle down I'll see what I can do. Kenshin: Who's Tokio? Saito: ...She's my wife. (Kenshin and Misao are completely freaked out)
Eiji: I'm all alone now, what do I have to lose?
The full title of this episode that appears on screen is: Reverse Blade Sword Broken: Soujiro's Tenken verses Kenshin.
The sword Soujiro uses, the Nagasone Kotetsu, was the sword used by Shinsengumi founder Isami Kondo. The sword Soujiro uses in his final battle with Kenshin, the Kikuichi Norimune, was the sword used by Shinsengumi First Squad Captain Okita Soushi, the character model for Soujiro.
Kenshin saves Senkaku's life by showing off his Ryu Shou Sen to Shishio. This act confuses Soujiro.
Saitoh offers to take care of the orphan Eiji, telling Kenshin that his wife Tokio will take care of the boy. Kenshin notes that Tokio must be a goddess of a woman to be able to be married to (read: put up with) Saitoh. Saitoh smirks, but doesn't reply to the comment.
Soujiro breaks Kenshin's Sakabatou, but his own blade is ruined as well.
