Kenshin decides to go to the river to fish so they could have something to eat, while at the river he meets an old man who tells him about the legend of the fireflies.
  • This could've gone better...

    "Great"
This episode was somewhat dissapointing, it was even hard for me to watch the entire episode through without stopping and doing something else, something that has never happened to me with a Rurouni Kenshin episode before... it was kinda filler too, because the old man will never be seen again, but this episode was tearful and emotional with the old mans past and flashbacks of wanting power and searching for it, even leaving his loved one behind. And then when he comes back after realizing his mistake, she's dead. How saddening. I hope the next episode is better if I ever get around to watching it, though.moreless
  • Somewhat disappointing.

    "Great"
This episode is a stand alone, not really connected to anything else in the series.
After the climaxes of the 2nd season, I was more than a bit disappointed.
Kenshin is sent by Kaoru to the river, to do some fishing for dinner. There he sees an awesome display of swordmanship from the old fisher. Then they sit together as Kenshin listens to the tale of how the fisherman got so adept. Bottom line, it mostly serves to show that Kenshin knows some peaceful times between the big fights, and as all peacefull times it is a tad boring.
I do not advise starting to see the show from this episode, as it is quite unrepresenting.moreless

    "Perfect"
This is absolutley one of the best episodes to me in the kenshin saga...the fact that seeking for power was not enough for the oldman was a great story... i loved how it better illustrated kenshin's obsession with swordplay as he was a child...this shows a better perspective on kenshin's emotions by showing anothers emotions
