Rush (1974)

Show Summary

Rush was a mid-1970s Australian serial period drama about the historical gold rush of the late 19th century, when the discovery of Gold in Victoria in 1851 caused people to flock to the rural goldfields, hoping to seek their fortune. The first series was filmed in black and white in 1974, and it was set in Victoria during the 1850s. The series followed the lives and struggles of the residents of a fictitious settlement called Crockers Gully and their gold prospecting endeavors in the rural Australian goldfields. The second series was filmed in color in 1976, and it was set in Turon Springs, a fictitious mining town in New South Wales, during the 1860s. In the second series, Robert McKellar (John Waters) gets a job as a security officer for the Great Eastern Mining Company, however, he soon quits the post after discovering how corrupt the company's operations are. McKellar then plans to leave town, but Superintendent James Kendall (Vincent Ball) offers him the position of local police sergeant, in an attempt to convince him to stay.
