Sabrina's age in this birthday episode is never mentioned but earlier this season it is said that she is 19.
That's a possibility, but this episode would have had to happen after "What's News" when Sabrina learned that Harvey was back in town and was dating Morgan. I guess we should assume that both episodes were meant to take place in September.
Sabrina's birthday has been in September in previous episodes including the pilot, 2nd season premiere, and 4th season premiere.
Irma: Is your name Harvey Kinkle? Harvey: Yes. Zelda: Well done! Let's eat. Irma: Silence! I'm not through. (To Harvey) Can you be trusted to keep the Spellman's secret? Harvey: Absolutely! Irma: You're lying. Sabrina: Erm, aunt Irma, I don't mean to question your interrogation skills, but um, your lie detector isn't plugged in. Irma: You're lying. (Sabrina then holds up the plug)Okay, you're not lying... but you're insolent. I never trusted these machines anyway. Let's move on to a more accurate method of truth detection...Hot coals. Somebody fetch me a frosty drink. Harvey: Hot coals?! Sabrina: Don't worry. I'm sure she'll cool down once she's had a cold beverage.
Salem: Y'know, I almost hate to say it, but he smells delicious! Sabrina: Harvey, how you doin'? Harvey: Oh I'm all right. It's not as hot as it looks. Irma: Yet. All right people, let's get this over with. You're in a dark alley and a hoodlum throws you against the wall. He asks, "Are the Spellmans witches?" What do you say? Sabrina: He says no! Irma: Only the mortal speaks! Harvey: I say no! Irma: Copycat! (To Hilda and Zelda) The boy hasn't got a mind of his own... although he cooks quite evenly. Hilda: They say slow cooking seals in the juices...What am I saying?! Zelda: Aunt Irma, it's just not fair to question Harvey while he's roasting at four seventy-five! Irma: Oh keep talking darling and I'll make it five hundred. Hilda: May God forgive me but...I'm going to set the table. Zelda: Hilda! Hilda: I'm sorry, I don't know what I'm saying! Aunt Irma always turns me into a basket case. Irma: Oh, thanks for reminding me. (Turns Hilda into a fruit basket)
Zelda: (Sighing) That completes Aunt Irma's demented demands. The house is totally sterile... like her. (A tornado starts swirling in the living room) Hilda: O-oh! That's either Aunt Irma or a big wind chasing Helen Hunt. Zelda: Okay, remember. Stick together and be strong. Don't give her an inch. Salem: She'll be lucky if she gets a 'hello' out of me. (Irma arrives in her chair) Hussar m'lady! I am your humble servant. Irma: Silence, you talking throw rug! Salem: Ghe?! Irma: Ah, you have a sandpaper tongue. (Kicking off her shoes) I have corns on my feet. Do the math.
This is the first appearance of Great Aunt Irma (Barbara Eden).
This episode was to have been the Christmas episode for this season. Following the 9/11 tragedies, the WB requested that its shows not make Christmas episodes. At the last minute, the Sabrina crew decided to rewrite the episode as Sabrina's birthday.
(A tornado starts swirling in the living room) Hilda: O-oh! That's either Aunt Irma or a big wind chasing Helen Hunt. This is a allusion to the movie Twister, starring Helen Hunt, which is about storm chasers following tornadoes.
