This episode is another of my personal favorates because we see Sailor Moon as well as the villan Diamond at their best.

Diamond was always a slightly complex villan because by nature he never really was one in the first place, in fact he was more a victim of misunderstanding. We can't help but simpathize with the guy because his real motives were never greed but they were to give his people something more to share the joys of what the earth has, but of course Wiseman manipulated him and everyone on the planet into thinking they won't share and wanted to destroy their planet so it made Diamond take rather unjustified and corruptive actions which he saw in his mind as rightful action. But also he suffered that common dilema of loving someone but never able to have them because it's simply not in the cards.

As Diamond is constantly utilizing his actions to get Sailor Moon for himself we are all constantly just griping our seats and saying, fight him Sailor Moon fight, or don't give in. What's interesting about this battle is no one this time is going to help Salior Moon it's a battle she has to deal with herself. But what makes this fight great is the fact that she uses reason to win, this was always one of the strengths of the show and her character, I personally never find it very interesting sometimes when a superhero/hero would deal with a problem by just simply blasting their enimy, I really feel that is sometimes the wrong message to send people about how to confront evil. I guess I'm just one of those people that believe in using reason first and force second. It's a good message because it just goes to show you don't always need to use force to confront evil you can solve it though non violent means though the power of reason. But it also show why love can never be taken away from anybody, true love for another stays in a person and never leaves. It a relieving feeling to see that diamond learns that leason but it's also tragic at the same time seeing Diamond giving his life to save her at the very end which shows that her truely does love her even though he couldn't have her. A lot of Sailor Moon fans actually felt bad that this guy died and so did I. Diamond is only guilty of taking wrongful actions, but was never evil, he was always a good man.moreless

    • Luna: (when the Sailor Scouts leave to go inside the dark crystal) I hope they'll be okay.
Artemis: Don't worry, with the promise of cheesecake, they'll win this fight.

    • Prince Diamond: I know I've made a tragic mistake, Sailor Moon. I just wanted my people to have a chance to live in a beautiful planet to see flowers, waterfalls, blue skies. But I got too wound up in wanting revenge and hating you earth people. Please forgive me. Sailor Moon, I just hope it's not too late. I wanted to live like you humans but I lacked your human heart.

Serena: You saved my life, though, so you must have some kind of heart. And now that you know you were wrong, maybe you can start changing your ways.

Diamond: I wish. If I had the time I would.
