As Serena and the girls enjoy Christmas vacation, an comet approaches the Earth. On the comet is the bitter Snow Queen Kaguya, who wants to rule the planet. She creates a snow storm that envelopes the planet and creates her warriors, the snow dancers. She instructs them to freeze everything insight and find the special crystal that dropped to Earth. However, they soon encounter the Sailor Scouts who temporarily stop them. Meanwhile, Luna falls in love with a young astronomer named Kakeru, whose girlfriend, Himeko, is an astronaut on an upcoming mission. Luna begins to develop feelings of love for Kakeru, but is sad because she realizes that a cat could never be with a human. When Serena discovers this, she follows Luna to Kakeru's place where she sees Kaguya stealing the crystal. Realizing that they must defeat Kaguya to save Kakeru and the rest of the planet, the scouts head to her iceberg. Will the Sailor Scouts be able to stop Kaguya?moreless

I really really really love this movie! Although it was a tearjerker, I still will watch it again and again. I feel so bad for luna, because she really cared for that human guy, and it was so cute to watch her get all flustered and dreamy around him!! ^-^ However, they could've put a shirt or something over that Kaguya chick! Talk about blinding! I also loved the scene with Serena and Darien, how he reaasures serena of his love for her, and that he loves being around her. AWWWW!!! How sweet!! I also loved when Luna got a chance at becoming a human, just so she could meet the astronaut "face to face." Applause!!moreless
  • A snow queen from an outer world tries to take over earth. Luna falls in love with a human. All the sailor scouts including the outer senshi are in this.

    "Great"
I found this very interesting indeed. While it lacked a great deal of the outer senshi, it really had the inner senshi shine. It did show some teamwork amongst ALL the sailor scouts which it didn't really identify in any of the Sailor Moon S episodes. Overall though they should have had some more intimate moments with the Outer Senshi but it was lovely. Showing Luna having an experience of her own to make her stronger was important also.moreless

    • Unlike the other two movies, this movie is actually based on the manga. Volume 11 of the manga features a side story about Princess Kaguya, which was adapted into this movie.

    • On the DVD, there is a hidden Easter Egg; Go to the Extras Menu, highlight the Transformations option, but do not hit enter. Hit the left button once, and then Luna's crescent will be highlighted, and now you can access Luna's transformation scene.

    • Princess Kaguya is the name of the principle character in one of Japan's oldest tales called "Taketori-monogatari," otherwise known as "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." According to the tale, a bamboo cutter finds an infant, with the elegance of a princess, inside the stem of bamboo. He takes her home and she grows into a fine maiden who is admired by many. One day she tells the bamboo that she must return to the moon, a place that's her original home. She leaves and forever after, the bamboo is sacred. This legend is included in the DVD extras.
