This may have been the very last acting appearance (on film, at any rate) for Irene Dunne, whose popularity lasted right through the 30s and 40s in such classic movies as "The Awful Truth" and "Penny Serenade". Her last film was in 1952, but there were subsequently some TV roles, of which this may well have been the slushiest. Smiling bravely as an un-named incurable disease carries her off, she's every inch a lady and all the men weep buckets when she's snuffed it. The thing is, if only writing and direction had had any quality, she might have made you believe it. Astoundingly, the script is credited to Joseph Stefano, screenwriter of "Psycho" and future producer of "The Outer Limits". We all have our off-days.moreless
