Sakura Wars 2

Show Summary

Friendship, loyalty, and teamwork - the binding forces of the spirit warriors. Captain Ohgami reflects over his adventures with the Imperial Flower Combat Troupe as he prepares to depart for a new assignment, but turbulent winds are brewing. For more than one member of the Division the coming storms could mean disaster: an evil voice from the past, the pressures of stardom, and the advent of cinema threaten to break up the Imperial Flower Combat Troupe! This is a guide for the first and second OVA series. In the U.S., a different voice acting pool was used (as opposed to the series). However, the OVAs were still dubbed by the same company - ADV Films. The Japanese voice actors remain the same for everything. Opening Theme: "Geki Teikoku Kagekidan" by The Teikoku Kagekidan Ending Theme: "Declaration! Imperial Floral Combat Troop!" by the Teikoku Kagekidan CHARACTERS Sakura Shinguji Sakura Shinguji is a young swordsman with great stage talent. When Sakura first joins the Flower Division they don't think much of her and give her a job sweeping the stages. But they find out there's more to her then good looks, and she becomes the main character throughout all of the series. Kohran Ri Kohran Ri was born in Beijing, China, and speaks with a very funny Osaka dialect. She is fascinated by people flying to Japan in their flying machines, and is rather proud of her scientific abilities. She has an easy-going and agreeable personality. Maria Tachibana; Maria was born in Russia and fought during the chaos of the Russian Revolution, where her ferocity on the fiery battlefield earned her the nickname "Kazuar." After leaving Russia, Maria fell in with the New York Mafia, where Major Ayame Fujieda met her, and then brought her back to Japan to join the Flower Division. A brilliant strategist and fighter, Maria served as the first Captain of the Flower Division. Maria, however, felt that she would be better suited to assist a commander and help make strategic decisions, and requested Ayame bring in someone who would be better suited to unite and organize the Flower Division in to a more cohesive unit. A talented actress on stage, Maria is said to look absolutely dashing in men's attire, and can commonly be found portraying the charming Prince in the various productions that the Flower Division puts on. Maria is also renowned for her marksmanship abilities, and her weapon of choice is an Enfield Mk.1 Star Revolver. Maria is also a talented Koubu operator, and serves as Lt. Ohgami's second in command on the battlefield. Sumire Kanzaki; Sumire is the only daughter and heir to the fabulously wealthy Kanzaki family, which has built an empire of industry and other holdings throughout Japan. Highly opinionated, Sumire constantly has to be the center of attention, and thinks that her opinion matters above everyone else's. This leaves her constantly butting heads with Kanna, who has made it her hobby to rain on Sumire's parade. An extremely talented actress, Sumire fiercely defends her assertion of being the "Top Star" of the Flower Division, which the others have come to accept. Even though she comes off at times like a snobbish prima donna, a stereotypical "poor little defenseless rich girl" she is not. Sumire is a master of the Kanzaki Fujin Ryu style on the Naginata, and is one of the Flower Division's most aggressive fighters. During a chance visit to Kanzaki Heavy Industries to visit her grandfather when she was younger, the company was working on the development of the Koubu. Regrettably, all the test pilots the Imperial Army had provided proved too weak in spiritual power to move the mecha. When Sumire's massive spiritual energy set off the detectors in the room, she volunteered to try and pilot the prototype Koubu. Succeeding beyond the engineers' wildest expectations, Sumire made the project successful and development was able to proceed on the Koubu for the Capital Defense Program. Given that this is the case, Sumire feels a sense of proprietorship over the rest of the Flower Division; because without her, there would probably be no Koubu for the girls to fight with in the first place. Iris Chateaubriand; Iris is the only daughter of Count Robert Chateaubriand, from a wealthy and important family in Champagne, France. Iris' powers came to her early in her life. That is the reason why Iris' father placed her in a solitary, single room, in Sologna Castle, the Chateaubriands' residence, to protect her from recklessly using her powers against herself or anyone else. Although the Chateaubriands feared her, they still cared enough to give her cake and presents on her birthday, even though Iris would spend it alone with a menagerie of her stuffed animals. Through it all, her best friend is her teddy bear, Jean-Paul, which rarely leaves her side. When Iris was recruited into the Flower Division, it was found that she possessed the highest amount spiritual powers of anyone within the Division. Iris quickly adopted herself to her new family. Although Iris wants to prove to everyone that she is an adult, her outward appearance and mannerisms are still juvenile and would become violent. At one point, Iris was so angry with Kanna's and Sumire's bickering that she released her spiritual powers on the stage. Iris destroyed the set, and hurt all of the members, at that time, of the Imperial Theatrical Troupe, the public front to hide the secret Flower Division. Iris' gold-colored Koubu is equipped with mechanical hands on both arms and employs a spirit-transmission control mechanism. This steam-powered "Spirit Armor" allows Iris to amplify her already strong spiritual powers, while protecting her physical damage and spiritual radiation. Iris' powers was the most diverse throughout the OAV, TV series, and the movie. In the first OAV series, Iris used "Bear Repair" on Captain Ogami's Koubu after he fought a tough battle. In the TV series, Iris' powers included teleportation, a spiritual shield, and a spiritual "wash" that dramatically increased the spiritual powers of Iris and the others of the Flower Division. In the movie, Iris was the focal point of the "Imperial Capital Spiritual Barricade Formation", which makes a quick end to any large battle with the Kouma or demons. Iris was also able to levitate and then throw Sakura's Koubu, with accuracy, to help Sakura defeat the final boss demon/monster.moreless
