  • Fun at the hockey rink.

Another fine episode here. I liked the introduction of Kevin, I hope he appears in the show again. There were some great scenes between Andrea and Dena in the bar, the two of them work so well together, so contrasting yet have a surprising amount in common. Samantha's father didn't have much to do but her mother was great, especially when she set Kevin and Samantha up together. I also loved the bits about the food allergies, especially when she was on the phone and asking the person at the other hand to stand next to her to see if she dies! Great stuff.moreless
  • Back on track with this one!

This episode restores my faith in this show. The plot returns to the more "mundane" aspects of recovering amnesia, but it is the mundane fears that have proven to be the most humorous. The writers need to take note that it's not the big, life-altering events that develop character, or re-develop Sam in this case. "The Virgin" missed so badly as did "The Hypnotherapist," both of which tried to tackle issues that have been covered ad nauseam. This episode deals with a very realistic fear all people have, even those who have never suffered amnesia: what do I have to offer another person? And Christina Applegate delivered the angst in the charming manner I've come to expect from Sam. She never misses with the doe-eyed look.

Additionally, Sam's interaction with her "friend" Todd illustrates the chemistry these two actors have together. Barry Watson's reaction to Sam's constant dropping by the apartment is both humorous and gentle as he always indulges her whims; nobody knows Sam like Todd. Finally, the scene with Dena and Andrea getting drunk during appetizer night sets up some new territory for this pair as Andrea's constant eye rolling at Dena was getting old. We will learn that these two opposites aren't really that opposite after all. The show has the potential for creating couples that will become television classics.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Jennifer Esposito and Kiele Sanchez have shared the screen before. They were previously on the WB show Related playing sisters.

  • QUOTES (16)

    • Samantha: Remember I asked how you can be yourself when you don't know who you are? Well I do know who I am. I'm someone who happens to have amnesia. And that's fine. Because every day with me is an adventure. And if someone wants to take that ride like Karen Allen did with Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark...Oh wait, okay, ask me my favorite movie, go ahead.

    • Samantha: I barely made it through the evening. I kept saying "I like hockey" like a mental patient. You see, this is why I can't go out on dates. Because one dinner and I'm just sweating and exhausted from trying to make some stranger think that I'm something that I'm not.
Andrea: Sweetheart, that is a date.

    • Regina: (to Samantha) I thought you were engaging and charming. Just don't talk about your scars. Makes you sound like a sea captain.

    • Kevin: You're the wheelchair girl. Hey!
Samantha: Ha! I might be. So.
Kevin: I was there. I think I whipped a cup at your head.

    • Andrea: I'm only crying because I'm tired. I've been staying up trying to get my body on Rome time.
Dena: It must be hard for somebody like you to admit that you've been jerked around.
Andrea: What do you mean, someone like me?
Dena: Someone, you know, materialistic, vain, self-absorbed.
Andrea: Strange. I know. You don't have to tell me how awesome I am.

    • Samantha: So. What did you tell Chloe you were doing tonight? Going out with the guys, bowling?
Todd: No. I told her the truth.
Samantha: Oh. Whatever floats your boat.

    • Todd: Okay, so after dating me for three years, and cheating on me, now you want me to teach you about hockey to impress a new guy?
Samantha: I know. Are you a good friend or what?

    • Kevin: (talking about hockey) You any good?
      Samantha: I have a trophy.
Kevin: Wow. Well, tell me about that.
      Samantha: It's shiny.

    • Samantha: You can't watch TV without getting that little pearl of wisdom. But how can you be yourself when you don't know who you are? Nobody ever thinks of the amnesiacs. We need a lobby.

    • Kevin: So, I am looking forward to tomorrow night. By the way, just don't get too excited, but it is Bobblehead Night.
Sam: Mmm, great. Yeah, no, I'm fired up. (laughs weakly) Okay, about that. Um, yeah, okay. Here goes. Um, I have amnesia.
      Kevin: Amnesia?
      Sam: Mm-hm.
      Kevin: In what way?
Sam: Uh, well, in the, um, I-don't-remember-what-a-Bobblehead-is kind of way.

    • Sam: Pretending to be handicapped. Wow, if Kevin were with me tonight, he would think this was so attractive. "Hey, you're a liar and a bad person, wanna go to Bali? Wait, what's that? You're banned from Asia? Sweet!"

    • (In a bar)
Todd: So... you wanna throw darts?
      Sam: Okay. At what?

    • (After Regina and Howard leave the house so Sam and Kevin can have dinner alone)
      Kevin: That...was unsual.
      Sam: If only it was.

    • Andrea: That is a good point, Tina.
      Dena: It's Dena.
Andrea: Really? Has it always been?
      Dena: Yes.
Andrea: Oh. Anyway, Dena. So ... are you sure? That does not sound right.
      Dena: It's Dena. Mmm hmm.
Andrea: Dena. Okay. To strong women. (raises glass)
Dena: (taking glass from Andrea) And stop taking my drinks.

    • Dena: It must be hard for somebody like you to admit that you've been jerked around.
Andrea: What do you mean, someone like me?
Dena: Someone, you know. Materialistic, vain, self-absorbed.
Andrea: Strong, I know. You don't have to tell me how awesome I am.

    • Regina: And now you're afraid to go out on a simple date.
Sam: I don't know anything about myself. I would have absolutely nothing to add to a conversation.
Regina: Oh no. Stop that kind of talk. I did not raise you to use amnesia as an excuse.
Sam: That would have taken enormous foresight.
