Also interesting fact I got from Wiki about the Ryukyu Islands(Mugen's homeland).

The Ryukyuans are known for their longevity. The Okinawa Centenarian Study attributes this phenomenon to a combination of diet, exercise, and lifestyle practices.

So the Ryukyu islands really do exist? I didn't realize that.

Yeah. That message at the beginning of the first episode that said "This is not an accurate historical depiction" was really only half true.

That's where the Battle of Okinawa took place(I'm researching that in school right now). Not too many good things have happened there so it fits perfectly for Mugen's childhood.

Nope. Mugen killed guys with guns before.

And he survived canonballs, 3 explosions, and being cut up.

    Mugen automatically wins.

Am I the only one that sees Spike and Mugen are the exact same people? I'm not gonna go into the details, but if came down to a choice of victors based on everything we know about these two, they would both let themselves die only after they knew for sure the other was dead or mortally wounded. Then they would both think they were the victor.

Hmmm this would be a very interesting and close match up. Both fast, both have martial arts skill,(although Mugen's might be a little more advanced ) Spike uses guns and Mugen uses a sword. It all depends on the fighting conditions and environment. Mugen seems invincible. I feel like Mugen would win do to his stamina. Even if Spike used a gun and tried hiding, Mugen would attack and end the struggle.

can't we say that mugen and spike are the same person, just in different time?, check it out, they are both the same, don't have a reason to live, couldn't care less if they were dead, the 2 of them fight just for the fun of it, i mean no body could win if they are the same person, don't you think?

Mugen and Spike are nothing alike. They don't even really look alike. The only reason the two are even associated is because they both have the same American voice actor.
Kiobonim's description of Mugen is fairly accurate, but it doesn't apply to Spike at all. Thoughout the entire series, he has a purpose. Several, in fact. He searches for Julia, tries to kill Vicious. He can also empathise with people a lot more easily than Mugen can.

Mmmm, is Mugen human? Even in the intro he has some very demonic moments.

Mugan is Spikes re-incarnation and seriously doubt they would commit suicide.

I came to this conclusion after watching the End Credit of Hitchikers guide to the Galaxy, so go figgure

Mugen would win. C'mon, Mugen doesn't lose, you all know that. Spike is a tough guy, but even he gets taken out. Mugen always wins.

Mugen uses his surroundings in a fight and spike is straight foward, but that just my opinion.

At the person who said Mugen and Spike aren't alike: You're wrong.

Spike and Mugen have the same attitude when relaxing (casual/being bored and plain 'cool', the same attitude when fighting (moving in an erratic way), same attitude when it comes down to showing affection (acting all hostile towards the people they really like), ffs they have a similar hairdue. Even Watanabe himself has said they are very similar.

Spike is indeed Mugen in a different universe.

Watanabe also never confirmed wether or not Spike was dead in the end, so saying that Spike died in the end doesn't make him inferior.

And the most important thing of all: These x vs. y threads always seem to deduce that the one who wins is the one who is a character of the superior anime. Wrong. Strenght of the characters does not reflect the quality of the anime.

The most pathethic Dragonball Z character can take out every single Bebop and Samurai Champloo character just by sneezing on them. Does that make Dragonball Z better then Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo? Hell no.

I say that the fight would be a draw. Same goes for the quality of the animes. Jazz and space-action and Hip-hop and good ole' Japan, I mean, how could you possibly play those out against eachother?
