  • I thought the series was a short one, but they actually found time to throw in a recap episode?

The episode was OK for a recap episode, focusing on the human relationship part of the series rather then the sci-fi one. We get very little to no character development. I personally think they could have created a situation more like the brutality of the manga and play up Hitomi’s critical role in Ryoko’s growth. (See graphic novel Vol. 3, one of the best in the series). Instead we only get the brief "I want to care too" moment, and Ryoko just plods through.moreless

    • Tessai: You must kill.
      Ryoko: Huh?
Tessai: You should also learn to abduct, even if it means killing.
Ryoko: (gasps) No, I could never do such a thing!
Tessai: Tactics, Ryoko. Tactics are not just empty idealism; they are the path to chaos. When you meet your parent your must kill your parent. When you meet Buddha, you must kill Buddha. To break through the present and fulfill your need, you must prepare to break down what lies in your path.

    • Special end corner - Ikue and Sakura promote the DVD and VHS videos of the Samurai Girl series. The DVD cover art is different from the VHS cover art; one was done by the creator while another was done by the character designer. Six volumes in all in Japan!
