Show Summary

Long ago, in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shfiting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forward to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law. Now, the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku!

This cartoon from Dexter's Labratory creator Genndy Tartakovsky tells the story of a great warrior displaced to the distant future by the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. The world has become a bleak place under the rule of Aku, segregated into fantastic tribes and ruled by Aku's evil robot warlords. Jack travels this foreign landscape in search of a time portal that can return him to his home time so he can "undo the future that is Aku!".

  • One of Cartoon Network's greatest shows ever made!

    9.0
In the year 2001, Genndy Tartokovsky, one of the creators of Dexter's Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls, showed us his latest, and greatest, work. Samurai Jack! This is, without a doubt, one of Cartoon Network's best shows ever made. Between the main character, the fighting, and the beautifully artistic backgrounds, Samurai Jack is just an awesome, awesome show.

The plot of the show is that a samurai named Jack is close to defeating an evil demon named Aku, but before he can destroy him, Aku sends Jack into the future, where Aku rules the planet. Now Jack is on a quest to vanquish Aku, while trying to find a way back to his own time. Jack himself, despite being mostly quiet, is a really cool hero. Some of the side characters are funny too, particularly the Scotsman. The show's action is spectacular as well. But I think the best part of Samurai Jack is the artwork. The way the environments and characters are drawn is phenominal. The music is really good too.

However, as much as I love Samurai Jack, the show does have one problem. Jack never defeated Aku or returned to his own time! Why?! Why did the show end without Jack destroying Aku? It's kinda frustrating that Tartokovsky never finished the show. It was probably that 'cancel a cartoon after a certain number of episodes' rule. Thank god animated companies no longer use that stupid rule.

But apart from Jack never actually defeating Aku, Samurai Jack was an awesome animated show. It's animation was nicely drawn, the action scenes rock, the settings are awesome, and the characters are likable. I highly recommend watching Samurai Jack, for it is one of Cartoon Network's greatest shows, and one of the best animated shows ever put on tv.moreless
  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!!!

From the creator of the epic cult classic dexter's lab, comes another show that is also totally epic.

Sure, this show may be nothing like dexter's lab,but it's still epic in it's own way.

The premise is GENIUS,the action is AWESOME and the animation is BEAUTIFUL!!!

There are also some funny as hell episodes like aku's fairy tails :)

    Overall,just an epic show.

But one question, WHEN WILL THEY MAKE A MOVIE?moreless

Huge fan of the show; always really enjoyed it. Felt like it was too bad he never made it home. There is a blog that suggests an episode order where that might be possible, though:
