  • Gangster Jack

It's another so close yet so far brand of episode, not just in Jack's plight but in the overall quality of the episode. The dialogue and the music leaves a bit to be desired, and Jack's battle with the three titan ladies wasn't particularly interesting (though the tornado was pretty neat). The voices for the mobsters could have been a little more interesting, with a few more quick-fire moments of dialog like in old mobster movies. However, on the other hand, we get to see Jack in a suit and hat.

The high point in the episode probably came when they finally found the ruby and "gave" it to Aku. Aku's expressions of their arrival are priceless, as are his expressions when he realizes that they brought the ruby. Jack then steps out from behind them and dukes it out, quickly catching Aku by surprise and defeating him quickly...only to be knocked out by the mobsters who thought they were saving him. Even the Jack vs Aku fight here wasn't particularly interesting, Aku shape shifts into a cobra and eats if that would ever work... Though I suppose at that point there was little time left in the episode.

Ah well, all in all it wasn't a bad episode, but doesn't stand up to the Three Blind Archers, Mad Jack, or the Scotsman.moreless
  • Probably the best if not one of the best episodes in the series.

I like this episode a lot, its probably one of the best episodes in the series for sure. I like how it kind of gives me that old early 1900's gangster plot. I especially enjoy the plan the gangsters had to steal the crystal, it was a great display of Jack's samurai skills. Plus, the fact that the gangsters worked for Aku was a nice touch, it helped out with Jack's plan to confront him. The ending worked out well for the most part, mainly for the fact that Aku didn't get his hands on the crystal. I'll give this episode a 9.8 out of 10.moreless
  • Great Episode

This is one of the highlights of the first season. The gangster characters are very funny. Jack saves these five short mobsters which were like the anthill mob from the show Wacky Races and it's spinoff The Perils of Penelope Pitstop. Jack saves them and they offer him a position in their crime ring. Jack only accepts when he learns that they have dealings with Aku. Jack thinks that he could just do whatever that they wanted and then when they meet Aku Jack can finally defeat him. So Jack pretends to help them kill one of their enemies, but really saves him, and then jack steals the Neptune Jewel which allows a person to control all the ocean's of the world. Things go as planned for Jack. When he finally meets Aku he defeats him until the mobsters knock him out and Aku escapes.moreless
  • Now, look here, see.

I didn'y much care for this one the first time I watched it, but now it's growing on me. The styling of the guest stars was interesting and the quest they go in was noteworthy.

I especially like how Jack passed the 'test' in his own special way.

Not sure why Jack trusted them to return such a rare item, but I guess he is overly trusting of everyone but Aku.
