  • Shades of light and shadow

This is one of my favorate episodes of the show, the stuff at the beginning was soild for what it was just Jack typically hacking and slashing Aku's robots. But lets face it we're all really in it for the one on one with Jack against the robot ninja, and it doesn't disappoint it's also one of my favorate one on one battles.

It's pretty much both Jack and the Ninja playing a deadly game of Hide and Seek. As both of them are using different forms of stealth against each other. Where the Ninja uses the darkness, Jack uses the light. I really love the art direction which is just beautiful as we see each of the characters get into the other background but also how they utilze and blend into it to their advantage. And the suspense is great as we see the sun is setting which gives Jack very few places to hide, which all the more makes us want Jack to win because time is running out.

Overall this episode is a great piece of stealth action.moreless
  • Good episode elevated to brilliance because of the final fight

Honestly, the only thing worth mentioning about this episode is the final fight between Jack and the ninja, which is one of the supreme moments in the show. Jack clothes himself fully in white to contrast the ninja's black robes and the sun setting on the fortress causes everything to go black and white, creating a black and white background for them to fight against. This way, when they fight, one fighter might be cloaked in shadow or light, appearing invisible to the other. It is, quite simply, brilliantly conceived and executed.moreless
  • Jack battles a ninja who uses a village child for bait to lure him out.

After stalking him through the jungle, Aku's ninja finally challenges jack to a battle to the end in a cavernous tower by the sea.

In a thrilling battle where both warriors are clothed in fully black or white, the setting sun determines who will have the upper hand.

When Jack's odds are down, he relies on his samurai training in hearing and sence to finally defeat his opponent.

The episode end is a scene of "Awww" as Jack is greeted with a hug by the greatful child.moreless
