    "Sanctuary meets The Matrix"

You can be sure this characterization came up during the series writers' story conferences. This is not a criticism. All art is imitation. It all depends on how well one imitates. This was pretty good.

Also, with a dash of "Thelma and Louise."

The Wachowski Brothers were heavily into Eastern Mysticism. Their masterful film "The Matrix" was an expanded retelling of the famous "Zhuang Zhou Butterfly Dream."

The Chinese Daoist/individualist anarchist philosopher Zhuangzi, aka Chuang Tsu, aka Zhuang Zhou, wrote:

"Once upon a time I, Chuang Tsu, dreamed I was a butterfly flying happily here and there, enjoying life without knowing who I was. Suddenly I woke up and I was indeed Chuang Tsu. Did Chuang Tsu dream he was a butterfly, or did the butterfly dream he was Chuang Tsu?"

or as Morpheus put it in "The Matrix":

"Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream, Neo? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?"

What an excellent title of the episode! It describes the second half of the third season perfectly. The ideas, plotline and the transitions between episodes are completely out of the blue. It looks to me like the producers were experimenting with different ways of presentation. They were sure that the fourth season of "Sanctuary" is already announced and they were able to show some "out of the blue" things without any danger that if they don't succeed, they will have another chance to get back on track.

The episode was intriguing but I was expecting some rather strong connection with the next one. There was almost none. I just hope that the last sentence spoken by Helen Magnus means that "Sanctuary" is really "heading home" - in the matter of the normality (as far as the show such as "Sanctuary" can be normal).

Out Of The Blue was a great episode and I really enjoyed watching this episode because it was a psychological thriller. It was cool to see Will and Magnus living in an alternate version of reality. I liked the lives that they were living and it was interesting how different their made up lives were. Though the episode was slow at times I was pleased with the ending and learning what had happened. I hope the next episode and season finale has lots of great scenes, creatures, and plot development. This episode was sort of a bump along the way. I look forward to watching the next episode of Sanctuary!!!!
