  • Funny and entertaining episode that shows Kate Gosselin is a whiner.

Lazy Sunday with nothing on so we turned to this on TLC. We've seen ads for the show but we're more or less Palin-neutral and never watched it. This show has convinced us to catch other episodes.

Kate Gosselin and her 8 kids are guests of the Palins and initially the youngest, Piper Palin is excited to meet them. After hours of Kate's whining over the need for guns in bear country, the bugs and the weather she's a lot less enthusiastic and so was I. I'd only seen Kate in promos for her tv show and she was thoroughly unpleasant in this episode. Her kids were having great fun and she stood aside and whined incessantly. Finally she gave them the choice of going with her or staying at the camp to become a Palin. Horrible parenting and an abysmal example for her young kids.

This makes Sarah and her family and even Kate's kids seem rational and upbeat. Kate has obviously never been around guns so shotguns terrified her but in the wilderness your calm reason and earth-mother love won't keep a bear from eating you or your kids so a gun is a good idea. She couldn't even get behind that idea. She also equated camping with voluntary homelessness, proving she's clueless and provincial. Major fail for her but a great episode that makes me want to see more of Palin's Alaska.
