  • Nice Win :)

It's always nice to get a road win and this one was mostly thanks to the defense. They shut out Wake Forest for the second half, which is a nice accomplishment. ND's defense has been solid all year, it's just the offense with all the turnovers that's been frustrating to watch. We had the obligatory two interceptions today and they could been much more costly than they were.

Tommy Rees just isn't a very good quarterback. For the amazing amount of talent he has in the receiving corps, a veteran offensive line that hasn't allowed a sack since September and a solid running game, he looks uninspiring. Jimmy Clausen spent a lot of his time at Notre Dame running for his life and while he hasn't worked out in the NFL, you had the sense that he was in charge and knew what he was doing. Rees just doesn't give that sense.

ND now plays Maryland and Boston College before the season ending trip top Stanford, so 8-4 is quite possible.moreless

    • Notre Dame Quarterback Tommy Rees : We have a whole philosophy of, 'Count on me.' The defense did their part, and then it was their turn to look at (the offense), and for us to go out there and make some plays and do our part of the deal. I couldn't be more proud of our guys.

    • Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly: The words I would use? Gritty. Tough. You've got to win games like this where it's just a gritty, tough performance.

Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly: Obviously, the third quarter was the deciding part of this game in terms of our ability to put points on the board. We did a great job in the second half ... closing out the game running the football.

    • (on his team giving up touchdowns on back-to-back drives to open the second half)
Wake Forest Coach Jim Grobe: I didn't think we were very sharp for two series to start the second half, on either side of the ball. And then we kind of got going pretty good again, and the offense moved the ball pretty good at times, but we didn't get anything out of it.
