    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • The kitchen setting used in the "Moments of Doubt" sketch is recycled for the "Colonel Sanders" sketch later in the show.

      • The character that Nora Dunn plays in the "Lesbians in a Bar" sketch is very similar to the Dr. Norma Hoeffering character that she played in Year 12.

    • QUOTES (1)

      • (After Billy Martin sets the studio on fire)
Lorne Michaels: Uh... there's some candy and chocolates in the dressing room- go in there and help yourself.
Preppy Writers: Oh, thank you! (the three writers enter the dressing room)
Lorne Michaels: Great job this year! Help yourself! (closes the door behind them, then rushes off)

    • NOTES (7)

      • Brandon Tartikoff, unhappy with SNL's ratings at the time, wanted this episode to be the series finale, but Lorne Michaels pleaded with Tartikoff to keep the show on provided that he make "adjustments" to the cast.

      • George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic's second performance is replaced with a dress rehearsal version in the 09/20/86 rerun.

      • Jon Lovitz, Nora Dunn, A. Whitney Brown and Dennis Miller were the only cast members to "survive" this season.

      • This was the last episode that Dave Wilson directed for Saturday Night Live until 1989.

      • The closing segment in which Billy Martin sets the cast (except Jon Lovitz) on fire in the dressing room is a sly wink and nod to the "bad" 1985-86 cast.

      • This is Joan Cusack, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Michael Hall, Randy Quaid, Terry Sweeney, Don Novello, and Danitra Vance's last episodes as cast members. Novello would make three more guest appearances, Quaid made a cameo in Year 17, and Downey would host in Year 22.

      • Although he was fired from the show earlier in the season, Damon Wayans returns to perform a stand-up routine in this episode. This same stand-up bit was cut from the dress rehearsal of the Dudley Moore broadcast from earlier in the season.
