Bill Murray: That's right. [self-consciously, into the camera] Uh, Danny, John, Gilda, Laraine, Garrett, Jane, [rolls his eyes trying to remember if he's forgotten anyone] Gilda, Laraine -- [seriously] I'm sorry for what I've done.
Bill Murray: Are you gonna definitely stick with "Joe Piscopo" as your name?
Joe Piscopo: Well, I was born with it, Bill. You know, it's my name.
Bill Murray: Wow. (pauses to comtemplate) Well, whatever.
Charles Rocket: (to Joe Piscopo during Update) I'm sorry, did you just say "puck"?
Bill Murray: (to Charles Rocket) Watch your mouth man, clean it up!
For this episode only, Weekend Update is called "Saturday Night Newsline."
Bill Murray can be seen avoiding a hug from Charles Rocket during the goodnights, and ignores all the other cast members except for Eddie Murphy.
Producer Jean Doumanian was fired the Monday after this episode aired and replaced with Dick Ebersol.
This is the first of three times the whole cast has said, "Live From New York, It's Saturday Night." The second being on December 14, 1991 (Steve Martin/James Taylor), and the third time being on December 3rd, 2005 (Dane Cook/James Blunt).
This is Paul Shaffer's last episode as leader of the SNL band. He also made his only sketch appearance of the season in this episode.
The last episode for Gilbert Gottfried, Mitchell Kriegman, Matthew Laurance, Ann Risley, and Charles Rocket. Kriegman was never credited for any of his appearances on the show, yet prominently played an extra in nearly every episode in Year 6.
This is the episode after Charles Rocket's famous use of the F-word, and his performance in this episode is obviously affected by the controversy surrounding that incident. In fact, Rocket (and several other cast members) were fired less than a week after this episode aired.
Bill Murray is the second alumni to host the show after leaving. He, Chevy Chase, & Dan Aykroyd are the only 3 "classic" cast members to host SNL throughout its history.
