Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Great

Great Episode, loved the Sally Jesse skit, I actually attended this one, so quite a memory for me, not a big fan of Beck though but he was ok, The Hammond as Clinton comparing the republican primary candidates was funny, and who wants to eat, the cast from this era is underrated, love rachel drach, tim meadows, ana gasteyer, molly shannon. Taxi cab confessions skit was kind of boring and stupid though. I feel very lucky to have been able to see this show or any SNL in person, it is a lifetime memory for sure. Was Christmas time in NY also with very moderate 50 and 60 weather temps.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • An unidentified loud bang is heard during the beginning of the cold opening; Darrell Hammond reacts by breaking character and quickly glancing to the side.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Celine Dion: You know, I will never forget the time I asked my mother, "What is Chanukah?" And she say, "Celine, it's a holiday celebrated by people who own all the movie studios and the planes."

    • Sally Jesse Raphael: Jean, I understand your daughter Amber has been causing you a lot of heartache.
Jean: Yes Sally, she is really out of control! I mean, she swears at me all the time, she bit her little brother's nose off. Last week, I caught her in bed naked with a dog.
Sally Jesse Raphael: Naked with a dog?
Jean: Yes. And we don't even have a dog.

    • Britney Spears: Okay, y'all, Chanukah is special holiday, where we, as Christians, take time out to think about forgiving our Jewish friends for killing our Lord.

  • NOTES (4)

    • Sketches/segments not shown in the 60 minute version: Beck's performance of "Sexx Laws", "So This is Channukah," "Goth Talk," Weekend Update and "Madeline Kahn Tribute."

    • The "So This is Channukah" sketch was heavily protested by prominent Jewish groups, forcing NBC to promise to never air it again. However, they soon reversed their decision (although the sketch is not included in the syndicated version).

    • Beck Hansen is the fourth musical guest in SNL history to appear on the show twice in the same calendar year. Unlike his first two appearances, Beck does not appear in any sketches.

    • Christina Ricci accidentally punches Ana Gasteyer in the nose during the "Sally" sketch, prompting her to break character and gasp in disbelief.
