like jt kirk, I think kate mckinnon's facial expression seem to always be over the top. but she also doesn't appear to have any voice range. and cecily's voice grates on me, she's gotta be borderline tone-deaf.

looks like i'm the only one who thinks aidy might be the prettiest of the new ones. the others obviously have their thinner figures going for them but I wouldn't say either of them are standout in the appearance department. you know tina fey wasn't given screen time until she lost 30 pounds ...and she is far and away my biggest snl crush ever. also I love vanessa bayer and think she's very pretty. there's also nasim if she's not already gone.

I like the crazy eyes. They bothered me at first, but now, every time I see them, I can't help but crack up. Just try to give her another chance, watch the sketches again, she might grow on you, like she did on me.

Vanessa is a strange case, her first year she was in so many sketches, but last year she had a supporting role at best. She is cute though.

The guy I wish hadn't left is Paul Briton. He looked so unique and his Sex-Ed character as well as Lord Windemere (or how ever you spell it) were so funny.

I did find that I could sit through cecily and kate sketches soemwhat more easily toward the end of last season as opposed to wanted to to fast forward. one of my biggest problems is they just started giving kate and cecily heavy roles and as you pointed out vanessa hasn't been getting any. I've been watching some early 30s seasons and every new addition could be seen in the background before make skits except for casey wilson and she was admittedly at her weakest during her earliest skits as well.

I 100% agree on the britton front and that's actually one of my biggest problems with kate and cecily is knowing that essentially we've seen more talent either be kicked out or leave on their own. paul britton, michaela watkins, jenny slate, casey wilson and those are just the ones I can remember. sure they may not have been the top talent at the time (lornes mind I assume) but now they'd be veterans.

I am looking forward to the fact that at least we should be getting a number of new featured players and hopefully ones that will outshine and take precedence over kate and cecily if they can't do what IMO is required in order to deserve the kind of screen time they've been getting. granted even wiig could have a number of dud roles but she could also have absolutely stand out ones that 100% made up for those IMO.

They aren't exactly "new" cast members though...

And also, Kate Mckinnon is actually one of the freshest seeming people to come around in quite a while, how indeed can anyone disdain her? I mean heck, with a lot of top stars leaving, SNL not only needs fresh blood, but they need STRONG fresh blood. No offense to some of the other new arrivals, they are serviceable when the writing serves, but Kate really stands out, I felt shortly after she arrived that she'd be the next big female cast member (ala Kristen Wig). Also, she's cute! I mean I almost feel bad saying that, but it's just a nice side bonus that the funniest new female cast member also happens to be the hottest (to me).

I think Strong is decent enough too though. But yeah, as soon as Kate did those drunk makeout sketches (which were both hilarious and unsettling) and that one weekend update character "My Milkshake brings all the boys to the haunted mine *glares*" :P .

How can anyone not like Kate??? She is brilliant, I especially liked her drunk woman at the bar sketches. She has pretty much been the leading female cast member during the last season, and I think she will play an even bigger role this year.

Cecily is mediocre in my opinion. She looks very plain - she is neither attractive, nor funny looking. And her characters are not to my liking - the ex-porn actress and the "girl you wish you hadn't started a conversation with".

With Abbey Elliot no longer on the show, I do wish they would find a truly pretty comedienne, this way even if the sketch is not funny, we would still have something to enjoy.

Pretty people in general don't tend to be funny. They're usually fawned over throughout their life and never face the adversity required to develop the skills to truly make people laugh.

Kristin Wig was so hot when she started SNL, I had a crush on her. And she was really funny.

Kate McKinnon has improv-eyes, where she oversells her character's eyes to the Nth degree, it is to me like nails on a chalkboard. She's not a terrible actress but her SNL work makes me want to change the channel every time.

I'm really not happy to say that I dislike them both. I haven't actually disliked any cast members prior to this that I can recall. I really hope the veterans and the new blood (if they're good) get more screen time than them. I pretty much actually detest Kate and Cecily screen time currently.
