      • Steven Spielberg was in the audience during the original live broadcast.

      • During this episode, viewers were given two phone numbers to call to decide if Andy Kaufman should be allowed back on SNL, or if he should be banned for life. Throughout the show, the cast would update the audience of the results, which ultimately ended with Kaufman being banned. The cast made it no secret that they were more than disappointed with the results.

This particular incident was recreated in the 1999 Kaufman biopic "Man on the Moon," with Lorne Michaels inexplicably taking Gary Kroeger's place in the campaign.

      • A 60-minute edit of this episode appeared for the first time on E! in April 2005. This episode, and Drew's other SNL gigs, were noticably absent from SNL's syndication package until this point in time.

      • Sketches and segments that were edited from the 60-minute version: most of Saturday Night News (the Joe Piscopo commentary remains intact), "The Web," "Brain Surgery Date," at least three mentions of the Andy Kaufman phone vote, and Squeeze's performance of "Annie Get Your Gun."

      • Drew Barrymore is the youngest host ever on SNL; she was 7 years old on this appearance. She would not host again until Season 24.

      • This was Squeeze's first farewell concert. They reformed in 1985.
