- Many people became confused after hearing Chris Parnell's voiceover as Tom Brokaw during the "Narrator That Ruined Christmas" cartoon. Robert Smigel vehemently opposed Parnell's firing, so he wrote Parnell into the cartoon to make a statement that Parnell shouldn't have been fired. Apparently it worked, as Parnell would return to the show in March 2002.
