Interesting: America's premiere black Jewish singer is hosting & musical guest.

So we are going to get just 2 shows before the Olympics - Jan. 18 and 25th before the show goes on another even longer break to return March 1.

3 Host & Musical guests in 1 season. That has to be a record.

Last season had three as well (Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake), but it took two thirds of the season to get there.

I'm guessing the next week will be Seth Meyers' last show, and the musical guest will be either Lorde or Beyonce...

This pick completely baffles me. Drake did a few bits when he was on before, but nothing to justify hosting. These two-fer shows have been ratings busts. Why is Lorne going overboard with them?

The olympics will start on Feb 7th. Why shouldn't they do a show on Feb 1st?

It might be possible that they'll be airing the annual "Sports Extra" clip show. Or repeating Eli Manning's show from Year 37.

This will probably result in only 20 episodes for this season...

I wouldn't assume that, given the way they were cramming in shows through the fall. They have advertising commitments to meet after all. If they do a 2/1 show they'll be on pace with last season. They kept scheduling three-week decks of shows through December, despite the dramatic drop in writing quality, so there's no reason to assume they won't load up on three-week blocks through the spring to make it to 22 shows. It's a "transition year" officially, according to Lorne, and he's likely to just power through a full season and blame the poor quality of shows on that.

Ideally what I'd like to see Happen is three, 30 Minute Specials ala Election 2012 but about the Olympics. Basically a Sketch and then Update.

By my best guess, there are 11 shows remaining in the season: January 18th and 25th; March 1st, 8th, and 15th; April 5th, 12th, and 19th; May 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

Do you have any idea of how television production works? Specials like that would have had to have been planned into the production schedule last summer, and would surely have been announced already.

They need the time off anyway. The show has been in disarray since Hutcherson hosted. I think that one broke their back and they've just been slapping together odds bits to make up shows subsequently. Which only points to bringing in Drake as a double-bill being a bad gamble. He's got relatively little applicable acting experience, but his show will be under the spotlight because it will be the debut of the new black woman they're hiring for the cast. The Cyrus and Gaga shows were highly iffy affairs, and those were produced when the writing for the season was still relatively fresh. If they try to do a gimmick show like they did with Goodman, only with a black host and new black woman, it could be a spectacular bomb.

Exactly. A secondary role on a minor cable show qualifies you to host SNL? Bitch, please....

"Minor cable?" You mean imported from Canadian network TV.

This will be Sasheer's first episode as a featured player, and it will temporarily swell the cast to 17 actors, the largest ensemble since Year 17.

For those of you keeping track, that's seven new cast members since the season started, 11 since March 2012, and 15 since the beginning of Year 36.
