Judging from the Tuesday and Thursday promos, I'm forecasting a diet soda version of Peyton Manning... you know, just like in real life.

Also, this is a shot in the dark and it goes against my personal forum etiquette, but I'm predicting Jay will play Patricia Krentcil at some point in the show.

Why would a linebacker or safety need a signature touchdown celebration dance? Undecided (yeah I know, going for name recognition & the joke)

I currently not watchingt the episode as I am recording it, but I thought I would raise the spectre of asking if the show would in someway give a brief tributefor the Beastie Boys in acknowledgement of the passing of Adam Yauch??

I think they were counting on people not watching every single SNL episode like we do.

Kristen's not nearly dark enough. That's a light cocoa tan at best. But don't take my word for it.

The funniest part is the title "Helga Lately".

And Manning sounds like the Swedish Chef in this one!

I think Eli did well that tranny bit at the end was unexpected. I say he did just as well as his brother did if not better.

Agreed. Eli actually kinda surprised me. Granted, he was far from the best this season, and there seemed to be plenty of cue card reading, but for an athlete, he was actually kind of impressive.

I think my favorite bit was the commercial where he beat up all of those older brothers; Maybe I'm reading too deep into it, but after the similar Peyton commercial where he treated all those kids like crap, it's almost like he was taking revenge on his brother for that (plus years of brotherly torment). I think there's a brilliant undertone throughout the whole thing. Peyton was pretty good, but I agree that Eli was actually somewhat superior. While I do hate athlete hosts in general, I can be impressed by them at times. (In fact, the football players have all been decent hosts over recent years...)

Rihanna was good with her big, overblown staging, though I think she was lip-syncing throughout most of her first performance. (Hey, I just noticed that there was no Shy Ronnie tonight...) But anyway, SNL loves bringing in musical guests who go big, so we'll just see if she'll come back for a fourth consecutive season...(Maybe they should take a break from her...) Also, in response to Stu, I know you wrote it forever ago, but doing a little research, Rihanna really is the first official musical guest to perform three seasons in a row. Randy Newman had no consecutive seasons, and while it can be argued that Paul Simon performed for the first three, he wasn't quite an official musical guest the first time (debatable, yes, but I still say Randy Newman and Phoebe Snow were the musical guests while he was the host who also happened to perform).

So overall, pretty good show. Hell, we barely even saw Kristen tonight, but when we did, I didn't mind her...I might even dare say she was...funny. That's how things should be!

Still think that Seth should be have the Update chair after this show, Stu?

Titanically awful. Legendary. And that's not even the Cohen/Scorsese segment.

I actually liked the ep tonight and thought it was pretty funny. Eli wasnt GREAT, and I wouldnt care to have him back, but I didnt think he was as awful as I originally thought he'd be. He didnt read off cuecards too much except for that dragqueen sketch at the end, I wasnt feeling that sketch at all. But the rest of them were pretty good; I loved the Helga Lately sketch and the '50 Shades' sketch the most. Rihanna was also good as a musical guest, although too dependent on her background vocals, I think. Oh and I was really surprised that SBC stopped by during WU (though I still dont think he will ever host). He must really need to promote his movie LOL

I am only a casual viewer anymore and don't know a lot of the cast by name, but who were the three actresses in the Amazon commercial parody last night, which was hilarious by the way!
