Another show, another (famous) Brit: Dame Helen Mirren!

    :
Academy Award winner Helen Mirren ("The Queen") will make her SNL hosting debut on April 9. Mirren can next be seen alongside Russell Brand in the comedy feature film remake, "Arthur."

The Foo Fighters will make their seventh musical guest appearance alongside Mirren. Their upcoming seventh studio album, "Wasting Light," is due out April 12, while their latest single, "Rope," was ranked number one on Rolling Stone's Hot List. Over the course of their career, the band has won six Grammy Awards, including three for Best Rock Album.

Dramatic actors and actresses have a surprisingly iffy track records hosting the show, and winning an Oscar seems to make it worse (I'm thinking of Hillary Swank's show). It should be noted that Mirren will be second person who was in "Caligula" to host.

I'm not surprised that the Foo Fighters are on again, but it's neat pointing out that Dave Grohl has now made ten appearances on the show with four different bands (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (I think))

I think SNL should do a parody sketch for Billy the Exterminator, kind of like this one on this site www.kmfilmz.com

That article from February was accurate: Galifianakis, Elton John, and Helen Mirren, exactly in that order.

Looks like that article's predicted May 21 Timberlake/GaGa season finale is a strong likelihood.

Yes, in Year 20, about six months after Kurt Cobain died. Grohl toured with Petty that year, was offered a permanent spot in the band, but declined.

If you judged Helen only on "Caligula"...

I'm crossing my fingers that the monologue is not a rewrite of Anne Hathaway's.

Which one; The Nudity or the Nigerian Price?

I Wanna hope that this episode has some Non-Gay/ Non-British Original Sketches but I Don't want to get my hopes Up.

They really must do a cold open about the media freakout (i.e. CNN's shutdown clock) over the Federal Government shutdown that never was (Congress came to an agreement late last night).

Really good stuff so far, with my favourites being Mort Mort, the digital short, and especially Fox & Friends. Mirren is doing admirably

Agreed on Carville. I liked Wiig too, but Jean K. Jean kinda killed the streak of good commentaries.

Wow, this episode rules so far. Best of Both Worlds was hilarious, particularly with Julie Andrews going ballistic on her assistant. More goodness from DJ Supersoak and Lil Blaster too!

Seth was in another sketch! And it continues the streak of awesome tonight! Plus, I love how he was credited as "America's comedian"

Absolutely fantastic show from top-to-bottom. Am I the only one who would like to see Dave Grohl pull double-duty sometime or at least host? The man is naturally funny and he proved it with his two brief appearances tonight and his past sketch appearances.
