    Maybe I was so dissappointed because I had high expectations, and this show didn't come close to meeting them.

    I thought that this was an okay episode, but it was under my usual expectations of a Christmas episode.

    Ditto to that last post! And I was also wondering about Elroy Jetson on Kanye's second number. Did the estate of Hanna-Barbera approve this character's usage?

    As I mentioned in a previous post- the footage of the Elroy Jetson painting is from the music video for "Heartless." All the other Jetsons appear in the video, but I have absolutely no idea why...

    The cold opening & Weekend Update was the highlight for me, on Blagojevich. That said, I expected a better show with Hugh Laurie hosting which he spent most of using his American accent. Laurie is a great actor despite breaking character at the Bronx Beat, and all of the New Yawker & NY governor references in WU that completely blew over my head. I don't know who David Paterson is, but he (like Armisen wandered about) but he just seems like one messed up old fart. I liked Laurie's first hosting duties over this one.

    David Paterson was the Lt. Governor of New York until Eliot Spitzer resigned. He's the first blind governor in American history.

    Looks like nobody can take a joke

    I find it strange when madTV would do this nobody would care but when SNL does it people attack with their words. Then again that could explain why Mad got cancelled.

    I can't disagree with too many of your picks. Rudd/Beyonce and Brolin/Adele weren't as strong as some of the other shows in the last three months, but they still had their positive qualities. 2008-09 is shaping up to be the best season of SNL since Ferrell left.

    Heh heh heh, "looks"...

    The Paterson bit was more than just a blind joke, it was a wry commentary about how corruption in state government isn't limited to The Land of Lincoln. Plus, it's not the first time Army has done that wandering thing on Update.

    I actually graded Rudd/Beyonce lower than Brolin/Adele, but, now, I'd give the show a 5.5 with very small leanings to a 6.0. Post-Update went a lot better than pre-Update, with Forte's bizzare "Don't!" sketch, and Beyonce's dancing sketch. Also, it really does look like my bottom 3 musical guests show that I'm biased against hip-hop, but none of those songs performed wowed me. I can be a fan of hip-hop at [scarce] times. Kanye West almost topped my season 33 rankings. This season however, he'd probably lean more towards the bottom.

    i was listening to the radio today and they were talking about kanye's new album, they said they didnt like the songs and found it strange that kayne himself said he was trying to show he can sing different type of style. The guy finished the conversation by saying he found that weird since he was lip sinking on snl

    did anybody else notice he was lip sinking?

    He wasn't. It was an auto tuner. Did anybody notice how he was terribly flat? That ain't lip-syncing.

    It's all a loss to me, also. Some say he did that, knowing he was flat, and his album was supposed to be an off-key album about his recent tragedies with his mother, and his recent break up, but that doesn't exactly justify it.
