I liked the Black Swan skit. Some of the skits in the beginning were pretty damn funny, but at the end, I felt it started to dwindle.

Black Swan: I thought this sketch would have mentioned Natalie's recent news.

    Why would they?

Very good episode. Was Carrey promoting anything? If not I like the direction of SNL getting people that are good instead just getting the flavor of the month. If the two combine all the better. This was also one of the few musical guests I could get through without reaching for my iPod.

Actually, the movie came out late last month. The movie tanked, but most of us were happy to see Jim host again regardless of what he was plugging.

I've heard good things about that, but that was awhile back. Is Dana Carvey promoting anything? He seems to be living a quieter life now. It should be a good episode anyway.

Stu, I'm surprised to not see Stone/KOL on your top episodes so far. Is it maybe #3?

Yes. It was a tough choice, though.

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/01/09/jim-carrey-snl-ratings

Jim Carrey's 'SNL' ratings biggest since Betty White

Jim Carrey and The Black Keys helped pump the first 2011 Saturday Night Live to the show's biggest overnight rating since last May.

SNL delivered a 7.8 in the metered-market household Nielsens. You have to go back to when Betty White hosted the show with Jay-Z as musical guest last season to find a bigger next-day number. Though Carrey's energy helped keep viewers awake, SNL was doubtless also aided by having a lead-in from the NFL Wild Card Playoff game.

I thought it was supposed to be released in late 2009 or so, but there was a scandal surrounding it. I do remember it being discussed heavily.

For some reason, it did not occur to me that this was what he was promoting.

I think it's because ILYPM is still released in Limited Release.

Watching the Saints-Seahawks game on NBC, I can tell they're trying a Greg the Alien sketch for tonight.

I just hope the show doesn't start late at this point.

It will... by at least ten minutes.

Sorry about your Colts, by the way.

I needed a sorry for your Saints.

Your wobbly defense couldn't take down the godforsaken Seahawks. Should we say sorry?
