Lot of SNL Cast Members in the Box Office this Weekend:

    - Taran Killam
    - Adam Sandler
    - Chris Rock
    - David Spade
    - Maya Rudolph
    - Andy Samberg
    - Cheri Oteri
    - Ellen Cleghorn
    - Jon Lovitz
    - Tim Meadows
    - Kristen Wiig
    - Nasim Pedrad
    - Vanessa Bayer

Funny thing is, Only 3 Current cast members are in the Top 5. Which makes me wonder about the movie career of some SNL cast members.

Yeah, I think it was much better when the contracts were closer to 5 or 6 years.

Technically, that's a separate, although highly interdependent issue, although I do agree with you about cutting the initial contracts back to five or six seasons. What I'm saying is that even talented vets create problems if they stay on and don't put full effort into the show. Before last season, cutting Kenan to create airtime opportunities for the newbies was a no-brainer. Didn't happen but it should have. But cut Bill? There are so many arguments for keeping on someone as good as Bill if he wants to stay.

Still, now I'm saying you cut Bill if he doesn't want to work full-time. You need him to be another Ferrell or Hartman in those extended-contract seasons, not just an average player. Wasn't true in the past, which is maybe why keeping Kevin Nealon for nine seasons was not a bad idea if your replacement alternative is Jay Mohr. These days the new cast hires are coming in ready to contribute immediately. Benching them for anybody who is not pulling their full weight is not a good idea.

We have our first 2013-14 new hire, and it's a writer. Incidentally, she already has SNL ties:

    http://iowatercooler.com/claire-mulaney-hired-to-write-for-snl/

As it turns out, Claire is a friend of mine. At were in the same level at iO at one point, and since then we've regularly run into each other at parties and shows. Claire is as kind and modest as she is tremendously gifted. I was both pleasantly surprised by the news yesterday, but taken aback by the fact that a girl in my social circle is joining the SNL scribe forces. I wish her nothing but the best.

+Paul Brittain, Bobby, Forte, Melanie Hutsell...

    Hutsell's big-screen debut, might I add...

With 18 past and present SNLers, "Grown-Ups 2" breaks the unofficial record held by "Coneheads" for most cast members in the same theatrical feature.

    Wasn't Hutsell in Bridesmaids?

Apparently she played the tennis partner. Somehow I missed that. :/

The tennis scene was the only scene I laughed at. It was the comment that one of the sons said.

She's lost a lot of weight and looks different. I almost didn't recognize her.

Can you spell chutzpah? Wiig can. But being up against Melissa McCarthy probably dooms her chances of winning.

Good point. Explains how 30 Rock was nominated for the Hibernol that was Season 7. Plus Melissa will win cause the critics haven't gotten over that Honeymoon phase with her.

She won an Emmy for Mike & Molly 2 years ago and wasn't even nominated this year. So maybe Kristen might have a chance.
I'm hoping SNL will not win this category because both episodes weren't even good. There had to be a better guest actress than what Wiig and McCarthy did this year (even though they both suffered from weak writing).

Pretty good consolation for no one watching the masterpiece that was Macgruber.

Masterpiece? More like Master Pancake Theater.

I don't know what that is, but it sounds hilarious.

It's an Austin, TX Version of Mystery Science Theater. I listen to a podcast from Austin so that's how I know of it.
