  • Trivia

  • Quotes

    • Jack: Hey, this is Jack of Jack's Discount Emporium saying come on down to the Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday White Sale! [Flashing super: WHITE SALE!] This Monday, January 20th, we shall overcome high prices! Mine eyes have seen the glory of Phil Blass, Laura Ashley and Perry Ellis bedspreads for the low, low price of $19.99! [Flashing super: $19.99] That's only $19.99!

  • Notes

    • The "Times Square Music" sign on the main stage is changed to "Drewniak Music" for this episode only.

    • All four members of The Replacements were allegedly drunk during the live broadcast. This, coupled with the fact that lead singer Paul Westerberg dropped an "F bomb" during dress rehearsal, the band was barred from ever performing on the show again. The ban was eventually lifted (at least partially) as Westerberg performed as a solo artist in Season 19.

    • This is the only time that Dennis Miller ever opened SNL with "Live From New York, it's Saturday Night" (despite what he said to Lorne on the George Wendt episode of season 16).

    • The "Big Ball of Sports" sketch was edited from the 60-minute version of this episode but moved to the hourlong edit of the Dudley Moore broadcast.
