  • Jason Patric... better than you'd expect.

    9.1
Noteworthy for its opening monologue, where Jason Patric (accurately) describes the downward spiral of the show, this is a pretty good episode, by Season 19 standards. Patric has a dry sense of humor that is well-fit to the sketches (Where's the Rest of Me? The Fabrice story in particular features one of Phil Hartman's last great characters), and, in my opinion, this ep features the best Herlihy Boy sketch. The opening sketch is weak, the closing sketch with Nealon and Patric sharing a ski lift is bizarre, and Blind Melon's performance isn't anything to write home about, but overall, this is a solid, funny episode. It's too bad Patric's recent career hasn't been strong enough to warrant a return as host.moreless
