    • Tina Fey: Country music star Garth Brooks announced this week that he and his wife Sandy will be divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Rumor has it that Garth was angry Sandy made fun of his alter ego Chris Gaines, and Sandy was angry that Chris Gaines was nailing Trisha Yearwood.

  • Notes

    • Sketches cut after dress rehearsal: a commercial about a product that masks flatulence, "Corn Chip Nail Tips," "The Instant Millionaire," "Passive Aggressive Pam," "Nomad," a Chris Kattan commentary on Weekend Update, and "Duet of a Lifetime."

    • Sketches not shown in the 60 minute version: Weekend Update, "TV Funhouse: X-Presidents," "The More You Know: VWI," and Radiohead's performance of "Idioteque."

    • In the "Rabun to Shuri" skit, during the theme song it said the executive producer was Akira Yoshimura. Akira Yoshimura is a longtime behind-the-scenes man and recurring extra on SNL.

    • Kevin Spacey was supposed to host this episode, but had to cancel when filming on his movie K-PAX lagged behind. He would not host again until 2006.

  • Allusions

    • In the monologue, Kate Hudson is interrupted by the offspring of former cast members of Rowan and Martin's Laugh In (played by Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Will Ferrell, and Chris Kattan), which aludes to the fact that Hudson herself is the daughter of Goldie Hawn.
