- Kirstie's Cheers castmates join her on stage during the monologue to sing the show's theme song. When Kirstie hosts the following season, SNL cast members dressed as the Cheers stars sing the song. During the scene Kelsey Grammar points out that he has not hosted the show yet, while the others all have. He would eventually host in Year 19.

- During the live broadcast, Don Pardo has trouble announcing all the cast members' names during the opening montage. This is corrected in the West Coast broadcast and all reruns.
