  • The second season begins with Lilly Tomlin returning as host and James Taylor singing a few songs.

Season two got started off on the right foot. There are some very good sketches in the second season opener. The presidential debate skit was terrific. Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd were hysterical and damn near perfect with their impressions of the presidential candidates. Dan Akroyd's best Carter impression would come with "The Pepsi Syndrome" in a future episode. This episode is also significant for being the final appearance of Jim Henson's Muppets. As much as I liked The Land of Gorch it just did not quite fit in with "Saturday Night Live". Still the appearances of King Ploobis and The Mighty Favog among others were not all bad. James Taylor was terrific providing the music. The episode ended well also with everybody (Even the Muppets!) doing the antler dance. Overall, a good start to season two.
