    • QUOTES (2)

      • John Belushi: You know, I wanted to come back and do a scene with a little class, you know? A little diginity - Joe Cocker, Samurai, a Bee, a Cheeseburger scene. Something that was good, something that was well-written. But noooo! I have to come back and do a cheap seance sketch!

      • The Flutist: You just think you play better, but you don't play better! It throws the whole fuckin' timing off! (blushes and looks away from camera)

    • NOTES (7)

      • For the 100th episode, a new home base set with a subway station motif was built, which was used for the remainder of the season.

      • This is the 100th live broadcast.

      • Paul Shaffer slips and says the f-word during the "12th Century Musicians" sketch, but not much was made of it.

The 60-minute version of this episode cuts all of the musical performances. However, they do show the "12th Century Musicians" sketch and does not edit out or bleep Paul Shaffer's saying of the "f" word. His line was uttered in such a heavy fake accent that it got past the censors.

      • Because there is no host for this show, the bumpers show the guests on the show (Moynihan, Simon & Taylor, Simon solo, Nader, Taylor solo, Palin, and David Sanborn).

      • Mobil Oil's public relations chief Herb Schmerz takes offense to Ralph Nader's Update commentary, which savages virtually all U.S. industry. When Schmerz demanded equal time to respond, he declined a rebuttal written by SNL's writers.

      • There is no actual host to this episode. Paul Simon, David Sanborn, and James Taylor are the musical guests, while John Belushi, Michael O'Donaghue, Senator Moynihan, Michael Palin, and Ralph Nader make guest appearances.

      • Paul Shaffer slips and says the f-word during a sketch set in a medevil castle. Not much was made of it though.
