The NBC rerun replaces "Pango: Giant Dog of Tokyo" with the film "Coffee and Cigarettes" by Jim Jarmusch, starring Steven Wright and Roberto Benigni. Jarmusch's 2003 feature of the same name uses this segment (now titled "Strange to Meet You") as the first short in the film.
The show that winded up airing was a mixture of the dress rehearsal and the live show. This is evident in the "Church Chat" sketch, where the Church Lady's desk changes in between different shots.
This episode marks the first (and so far, only) time the show did not air live. The 1986 World Series pre-empted the scheduled October 25 broadcast, forcing the show to be recorded on tape. It was broadcast later on November 8, 1986 with an introduction by Mets pitcher Ron Darling. Ron Darling's guest appearance was taped November 1, 1986, as he was pitching on October 25th.
