The 60-minute edit removes "The Energy Brothers," "Steve Backstage," Adam Sandler's commentary on Weekend Update, the second "Deep Thoughts," and James Taylor's performance of "Shed a Little Light."

This is the second of three times the whole cast has said, "Live From New York, It's Saturday Night." The first being on March 7, 1981 (Bill Murray/Delbert McClinton), and the third time being on December 3rd, 2005 (Dane Cook/James Blunt).

The version of the cold opening seen now in all reruns and specials comes from the dress rehearsal. A sound error during the live broadcast forced Steve Martin to adlib and stall for time.
