  • Teri Garr clowns a little and Mick's Zoo plays twice while the regulars do their thing.

    7.0
It was an average episode, but entertaining. The cheerleading squad with really long cheers may have been the prototype for Conan O'Brien's Baseball Fan Overlong Chant bit.(I didn't catch the writers' names.) The fake ad, for Thirsty Guy Contraceptive Sponge, was a bit tacky but still a bit amusing. Gary Kroeger's Dwight MacNamara-School Film Narrator was cute.

Other fun surprises was the "Dopeball" parody that was put together to comment on the drug scandals of 1983; too bad twenty-three years later we're still facing the same problems- steroids, mentioned by name for one. Joel Hodgeson, yes that Joel Hodgeson!, was a featured stand-up. He was amusing, kinda sweet, and worked the Heartland Boy looks with the snazzy white formal. It's good to know how at least one of the guest comics did after SNL.

A couple of well-know bits were in the episode. The "History The Real Story" that had Lincoln as a loud, abrasive man who heckled the stage actors and audience at Ford's Theatre that night. Mary Gross showed us The Sarcastic Nun. Eddie Murphy had another chapter of "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood" with Nutrition and 'Shoppers Will Be Prosecuted' as new words for the kids at home1

We didn't see too much of Teri; she had five sketches, but she seemed lost amid all the regulars when she wasn't supposed to be the stand-out character.

Mick Fleetwood's Zoo was okay; theyplayed two songs, sung by different singers, yet sounded essentially the same.(Was that Shaggy-Haired Lindsey Buckingham on the first song? Wow.)

It's a good rerun to catch, but mostly if you enjoy the regulars and the musical guest and host aren't a big deal to you. It was a good show for the regular cast.
