  • Trivia

  • Quotes

    • Jimmy Fallon: China's state media reported this week that a 37-year-old Chinese man had his damaged esophagus replaced with part of his own colon. Earlier today, the man was quoted as saying, "Does this taste funny to you?"

    • Tina Fey: During an interview this week, Macaulay Culkin said that he is still good friends with Michael Jackson, saying, "I think we understand each other in a way that most people can't understand either of us." He then added, "Basically, we both still wish I was nine."

    • Jimmy Fallon: Cereal maker General Mills is opening its own amusement park this week with attractions like the Lucky Charms Magical Forest, the Wheaties Hall of Champions, and the Fiber One restrooms.

    • Tina Fey: President Clinton visited Vietnam this week and, to balance things out, John McCain got high and made out with some British college girls.

    • Tina Fey: Earlier tonight, Michael Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones at the Plaza Hotel here in New York. The entertainment at the reception was singer Tom Jones. The couple felt he was the perfect choice because, like the bride, he is Welsh and, like the groom, he is old and creepy.

    • Tina Fey: Al Gore's offer Wednesday to resolve the Florida election with a statewide hand recount was rejected by George W. Bush, who said that such a count would be, quote, "arbitrary and chaotic." Bush then looked down and crossed two words off his vocabulary worksheet.

    • Tom: (voice-over) Lorne and Tom in a tub, two Canadian buddies. Do do do do do do!

    • Chris Matthews (introducing Hardball): Tonight we examine the Mount Olympus of political chicanery: Florida. Or as some call it, God's abandoned construction site. God started making Florida then just said, "You know what? Screw it!"

  • Notes

    • Sketches not shown in the 60 minute version: Weekend Update, "Dog Show," and "Oprah."

The 60 minute version adds a sketch from dress rehearsal titled, "Lorne and Tom in a Tub" (part 1), where Lorne Michaels and Tom Green discuss hate. Only part 2 aired in the original live show.

    • Sketches cut after dress rehearsal: "Mango"; Lorne and Tom in a Hot Tub 1 and 2 (note: part 3 was shown in the live show)-- 1. Lorne and Tom talk about hate, 2. Lorne splashes water on Tom; a sketch where a girl (Maya Rudolph) has a crush on a band member (Jimmy Fallon) despite her brother's (Horatio Sanz) objections; An obnoxious loser (Tracy Morgan) annoys everyone with election results information; and David Gray's performance of a second song, "Please Forgive Me."

    • According to the "Live From New York" book, Horatio Sanz points out that Tom Green brought his own writers, which didn't make him that popular with the rest of the cast.

    • The E! version of this episode keeps in the Sex and the Country TV Funhouse instead of replacing it with the Charlize Theron TV Funhouse where Mr. T is looking for a job.

    • David Gray only performed once.

    • The "Sex in the Country" segment of TV Funhouse didn't appear in the original airing of this episode. Instead, the same TV Funhouse that appeared in the Charlize Theron episode (with Charlize's picture and all) is shown.

    • This episode marks the highest rated episode of the season.

    • This is the first episode featuring "Hardball" with Darrell Hammond as Chris Matthews.

    • The "Sex and the Country" TV Funhouse segment from this episode was originally scheduled to air during the "Robe Lowe/Eminem" season premiere.
