The episode begins with the guys heavily pushing swimmeat tickets for the girls upcoming meet. Meanwhile Eric, reporting for KKTY (Baysides radio station) interviews the main female swimmers. Katie sounded sincere and realistic in that theres a shot that she could lose but still has faith that she'll put in a good enough effort to hopefully win. Liz on the other hand is as cocky as cocky can be...LOL. She blows off swim practices and believes its going to be a cinch to win the meet. Fast forward to the big swimmeet and Katie wins her race which means shes going to San Francisco as that was the grandprize. Next up is Liz and although she gets off to a slow start she begins to gain momentum but in the end she loses and is absolultely distraught. Liz bugs at first throwing out accusations that the girl who beat her was on the roids, etc. but it all turned out to be false. Liz goes into a downward spiral and seriously consiers leaving Bayside. Belding visits Liz poolside after learning about her decision and he advises her, in usual Beldo fashion, that sometimes you lose sometimes you win but what matters the most is that you keep believing in your self and never quit. Since i took forever on the other plotline ill make this one quick. The custodian at Bayside is getting up there in age and its showing. Belding and Screech want to give him the axe but are finding it difficult to put their emotions away. After a couple of sad, pitiful, and outright stupid failed attempts at firing him they realize they have to come up with a solution quick. They eventually fire him and to their shock he is relieved stating that he had wanted to retire for years but didnt want to let them down. All in all it was a decent episode. I know its a small little detail but i like when the show goes outisde its normal boundaries (the outdoor swimming pool for example). As am avid SBTB viewer its nice to see little hints here and there that only the true fans would recognize.moreless
