The episode starts off with a complete ripoff of the original SBTB episode titled "Student Teacher Week." The similiarities between the two episodes are too obvious for it to be a coincidence. Anyways Tommy D. becomes the acting principal (ala Zack in the original SBTB) and sets up his office more like a hotel then a school office like Zack did. He lets his friends run an illegal bed and breakfast in order to obtain money for something called the American Games that the gang is all psyched to go to. Rachel becomes acting music teacher (ala Kelly becoming the acting English teacher) and is the only member of the gang to take her teaching seriously just like Kelly did in the original SBTB. Even Belding becoming a student and continuosly gets detention slips is a ripoff of the original SBTB episode. In the end Rachel has a talk with Tommy and tells him that hes an f' up as principal and if he wants to have any kind of dignity then he'd quit acting like a loser and take his job seriously. In the end Tommy admits to not taking his job seriously and tells the rest of the gang that hes shutting down the bed and breakfast and tells them to attend Rachels concert thingy. In the end they end up showing up to the recital at the last minute and all is well is Bayside land. The parralels between the two episodes i mentioned is a straight up insult to the original SBTB episode. I mean we're only three seasons into The New Class and already they are using recycled ass storylines and lame attempts at that. Its funny how in the later seasons they quit using the recycled storylines and picked up newer and fresher ideas. I just wish they wouldve started that trend sooner, like this episode for example. All in all if i hadnt seen the original SBTB episode i probably wouldve scored it higher but seeing the similarities its just hard to give it a decent score.moreless
