EDIT
The Tall and the Short of It
AIRED:
It's time for the girls to ask the boys out to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Rachel is nervous about it, but Maria goads her into asking out Ryan, who accepts. Eric wants cute and popular Jennifer Wagner to ask him out, but she's not even sure what his name is. Nicky arrogantly acts like he expects Katie to ask him to the dance, but she hasn't done it yet. Maria goes into the business of selling dating advice. Eric makes a play for Jennifer, but it's not working. To make Katie jealous, Nicky says he's got another date; Katie tells him that's good, go with her. Rachel and Ryan have their picture taken by Screech for the paper. Rachel's head is cut off in the picture. Both of them say they are cool with their height difference but in truth it seems to bother them. Screech tries helps Ryan with a pair of platform shoes and a pompadour wig, but he just ends up looking foolish on a date with Rachel. The two decide to back out of their date to the dance, but they both seem reluctant. Maria advises Eric to feign interest in coin collecting to attract Jennifer. It works, and she asks him to the dance. Nicky learns from Maria that Katie doesn't have a date for the dance either, just like him. Nicky and Katie talk and find out they really wanted to go with each other all along but handled it all wrong. Maria has Rachel and Ryan fill out personality profiles and tells them to meet their new dates at the dance. Maria has only one unsatisfied customer, Fuzzy. When her own date Sean turns up sick, Maria is stuck with Fuzzy. At the dance, Jennifer turns out to be a lousy date for Eric, talking about nothing but coin collecting. It also turns out that Maria has a good time with Fuzzy. Ryan and Rachel arrive to meets their new dates and find that Maria has wisely paired them up again. The only other problem is that Mr. Belding messed up the order for refreshments because he refused to wear his new glasses.moreless

  • The Sadie Hawkins Dance is approaching which means the girls will be the ones to ask out the guys. This is an unusual apporach as in most dances, the guy asks the girl out first.moreless

The episode starts off with some nerdy dude asking Maria out to the dance and/or for dating advice, in case she rejects him, on how to ask out a girl. She pretty much gives him so-so advice and tells him to go for it. This gives her an idea to start up her own dating advice service. The rest of the gang also has their eyes set on asking various males and females. The couples are Nicky and Katie and Ryan and Rachel. During class one day soon after Screech interuppts class stating that he needs a picture of a stable couple used for the cover. Ryan and Rachel seem like they had a good photo shoot until the next day when the paper gets released and everyone sees their photo. To everyones shock and dismay when the picture gets published the next day it has Rachels head cut out because of her being so tall. Ryan takes it hard and breaks things off with Rachel for the dance. After thats done the next topic is Nicky and Katie. They have their usual ups and downs but in the end all is well. Eric seems to like the "perfect girl" and gets to go with her to the dance. A couple days prior to the dance though, Maria ends up going with the nerd that asked her at The Max and she enjoys both herself and her job well done on setting up the random couples.

The usual secondary plot focues on "who else" but Screech and Mr. Balding. Belding is losing his eyesight so Screech makes him go through a series of tests to confirm that he does in fact have damage to his eye. After another couple goofy stunts, everyhing goes back to normal and all is well. Once again the Belding Screech fiasco just never seems to get old and it makes me think that maybe each of them should have a clause in their contract cause some of the things they do get very frustrating and possibly job or even life threatening, moreless
