  • Screech gets rich quick with his new spaghetti sauce. Unfortunately theres a new rich female student named Robin (played by the beautiful Soleil Moon Frye) whose out to exploit Screechs money by pretending to like him so he spends all of his money on her.moreless

The episode starts off with Bayside doing a smaller verion of "The Today Show" with various segments including weather, news, etc. One of the segments is Screech cooking up some spaghetti sauce. Once the gang tastes it they are shocked at how good it is and Zack decides to put it on the market and sell it. Sales go through the roof. Also Screech "thinks" he has a new love interest in a new Bayside student named Robin. Unfortunately the truth is she really thinks hes a dork and only is using her "charm" on him so he'll continue buying her gifts. The gang realizes this and has Zack talk to him. Screech blows him off though and claims that Zacks just jealous that a girl is more into Screech then him for once. Towards the end of the episode though, Screech finds out the truth about Robin. In a classic Bayside moment, Screech overhears Robin bragging to her friend about how shes using Screech and that hes nothing but a dork. Screechs reactions afterwards with the slumped shoulders was so hilarious that i didnt stop laughing for like three minutes...LOL. I dont wanna come off harsh but if you had watched the episode up until that point, it was so obvious Robin was using him and Screech being the idiot he is was so oblivious to the fact that he didnt even realize what was right in front of him.

The plot heats up when its found out that Screechs sauce recipe was stolen from the Betsy Crocker cookbook and the company threatens to sue them if rhey dont stop production on the sauce immediately. Also Belding finds out that they used $1500 worth of supplies to make, bottles, labels, etc. the sauce and gives them a one day deadline to come up with the money or be suspended. Zack comes up with another one of his classic schemes that will both get the $1500 back and also screw over Robin.

Screech and Robin meet at The Max where Screech tells Robin that the business is too tiring and hes selling it and in fact has a foreign buyer (Zack in disguise) on his way right now to start the offer bidding. He starts at $500 but quickly goes skyrocketing to $1200. With the gang needing $1500 to pay Belding back they pull some tricks and get Robin to offer $2000 for it in which they all chant "sold" in unison...LOL. Because she only had $1800 in her account she gives back all the jewelry Screech had given her to make up the $200 difference. Screech agrees to the deal, hands her the "secret recipe" and she calls them all losers and bounces thinking shes going to be the next millionare. After she leaves the gang rejoices that their plan worked and all is well again in the wonderful world of Bayside, California...LOL.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In the commercial, one of the participants quoted that they're "saved by the bell"; (s)he used the title of this TV show in the line.

    • Considering the size of Robin's check, it would almost certainly take some time for it to clear. Considering how quickly Betsy Crocker came down on Screech, Robin probably would have had time to put a stop payment on her check.

    • In a commercial that Slater performs in, he uses Mario as his name. The actor who plays Slater is Mario Lopez.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Representative: (walks over to Screech) Uh, excuse me but aren't you Samuel Powers.
Screech: (to Zach) Another adoring fan.
Representative: I represent the Betsy Crocker Company. We've sampled your sauce--
Zach: Oh, excuse me. Excuse me. I'm Zach Morris, Mr. Powers' business manager.
      Representative: Oh.
Zach: See, I know why you're here. But if you want Screech's recipe in your cook book, it's gonna cost you.
Representative: No, no, no. It's gonna cost YOU. You see, we've had that recipe in our cook book for over 20 years. (hands Zach a court order) Now you stop selling our sauce or we'll sue you. (politely to Screech) Hey, it's been a pleasure. (leaves)
Zach: Uh..(walks over to Screech) Screech, did your grandmother get her recipe from the Betsy Crocker cook book?
Screech: Well, of course she did. That's why it's so good. Grandma was a lousy cook.

    • Zack: Well, it's a 66 mustang convertible, it's a real classic.
Robin: Classic...another word for old. Trade up, then call me. Ciao!

    • Screech: The sauce you can have, but the secret she's-a mine!

    • Zack: Look, the chemistry lab is for student use. Well, we're students. So, we're using them.
Jessie: You really believe that, don't you, Zack?

  • NOTES (1)

    • Oddly enough, the year this episode aired was also the year Soleil Moon Frye had her much publicized breast reduction surgery.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • The Betsy Crocker Company would seem to be obviously taken from the well known real company, Betty Crocker. Most likely they either couldn't get the rights to use the Betty Crocker name, or didn't want to pay to use the name.
