Saved by the Bell

Season 1 Episode 11

The Friendship Business

Aired Saturday 11:00 AM Nov 04, 1989 on NBC

  • Trivia

    • It was Lisa who was getting the Fashion Club to make the friendship bracelets for Zack's company, and she stays with Zack's company after Jesse, Slater, and Kelly leave to form their own company. The next day they form Buddy Bands, a similar idea to Zack's friendship bracelets--however, since they don't have Lisa or the Fashion Club, it is never established how they produced the Buddy Bands, or how they intended on continuing to produce enough to compete with the friendship bracelets.

    • Buddy Bands cost $3.95. However, when Zack buys one (right after he closes down shop), he hands Slater a single cash bill, and recieves no change.

    • The flag on Zack's bedroom door is the flag of Australia.

  • Quotes

    • Zack: Our group project for Economics is to start a business. We put our heads together this weekend..and all we got, was a headache!

    • Lisa: (Lisa hands Kelly and Jessie bracelets) Here guys, these are for you.
      Kelly: Gee thanks.
      Jessie: These are nice.
Lisa: I made these friendship bracelets in Fashion Club.
Screech: Did you make one for me?
Lisa: For you, I'm making a friendship muzzle.
      Screech: I'm speechless.
      Lisa: That's the idea.

    • Max: How about four friends, with a Screech on the side?

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • Zack tells Jessie that he broke down when Kermit and Miss Piggy broke up. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy are Muppets, created by Jim Henson. There was a variety show starring the Muppets on TV from 1976 through 1981.

    • During the Buddy Bands commercial that Jessie, Kelly, and Slater come up with, the pose that Slater takes when he said "I thought of everything" was an obvious allusion of the famous statue, Rodan's Thinker.

    • During the gang's "We're rich" fantasy, Screech's character is an obvious parody of Robin Leach and his Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous television program.
