This is an allusion to American author/critic/poet Dorothy Parker (1893–1967). She reportedly answered her phone with the phrase regularly. It is also the title of a biography written about her by Marion Meade.
Although spelled differently, the character name "Bordon" may be a reference to Lizzie Borden who is famous for (though was acquitted of) attacking her parents with an axe.
The zombie movie on the portable DVD player is Junk (Shiroh Gari) (2000).
