Wanted to love it. Fell in love with Michael Shanks' acting long ago during SG-1 and Burn Notice and was so happy to see him in a drama again I had a Saving Hope viewing party for the pilot. While the pilot didn't "wow" me, I knew I'd continue to watch, to see what they did with this premise and these characters, while hoping against Hope (ha) that they'd give MS more to do than stand in the background and do monotoned voice overs as the Captain Obvious doctor who grows to be a human being through his trials.

Adorable young actor this week, and some interaction for our man Charlie, thank goodness. And yes, MS is great with the young man. But, unfortunately, this so-called "medical drama" has taken a turn into soft-porn soap opera. Charlie's ex-wife wants to introduce CAT - Coma Awareness Therapy - which means Erica Durance is supposed to massage and, err, you know, MASSAGE Charlie to remind this coma-dude he's still human. And, of course, to get his rocks off. Wait, although we can see Charlie walking around in his hot tux, his lady can't, so, without his consent, wouldn't this be not therapy so much as ASSAULT????

Meanwhile, the little boy has to be resuscitated three times so that he can interact with Coma Charlie. While those moments were fantastic, it was a little heavy handed. And here's the kicker - Charlie, in his coma, manages to diagnose the little guy's mystery illness. Oh, you say, cool! the little guy will tell lady doctor and she'll know her love is still hanging around in the background! But, no, Epic Fail. Lady Doctor don't need no stinkin' help and that opportunity flies away. Or, perhaps, is locked behind the door with newby doctor and horny surgeon girl doing the nasty in the lounge. Or unlocked behind the door. Whatever.

On the bright side, two thumbs up for Daniel Gillies haircut.moreless
