      • Alex: Are you listening to yourself? You can't commit to anything or anyone.
        Joel: Including you.
Alex: Yes, including me. We were living together, and that still wasn't enough for you to make an actual commitment.
Joel: Hey, hey, hey, hey. You were the one that walked out on me.
Alex: Because you cheated on me. You wanted out, and you didn't have the guts, so I walked.
Joel: Great, so you dodged a bullet.
Alex: No, I didn't, Joel. You broke my heart. Anytime that something gets serious with you, you run away. You live your life in fear. You think that you're this-this big, fearless cowboy, but the truth is... the truth is that you will never take a risk, ever.

      • Alex: You've been cheating on her.
Joel: Why would you assume that?
Alex: Because I know you, Joel. That's why you haven't called her. You feel guilty, so you're avoiding her.
Joel: Okay, wow, this is, like, blindsiding...
Alex: You know what? You don't need to try to make it better for me. You are unbelievable. You did this all through med school, even before we dated. It's your pattern. You take something really beautiful, and you screw it up.

      • Victor: (on the phone, while his temperature is going up) Yeah, it could just be a flu, and it's not necessarily lethal.
Shahir: We don't know that yet. That hasn't been determined, Victor. It could kill dozens of people in there... hundreds, even.
Victor: (sarcastically) You always know exactly what to say, huh?

      • Dr. Hibbs: Worst-case scenario?
        Dana: Sure.
Dr. Hibbs: Keeping in mind that coronaviruses are highly mutable and adaptable, and supposing that this particular one not only spreads through airborne transmission, not only spreads through airborne transmission, up to 20% of the hospital is dead within the next 12 to 24 hours. (Dana and Alex look at each other with fear) I'm not trying to scare you.
        Alex: God, no.

      • Jackson: Try not to worry. We don't know what this is yet.
Dr. Wilson: That's the best you got?
Jackson: Could just be a flu.
Dr. Wilson: I shouldn't have gotten involved. I should have kept my distance. I don't think that's your style.

      • Melanda: (about the new alternative treatment) So this does what, exactly?
Shahir: Neuronal depolarization. Basically, it excites the brain.
        Melanda: Sounds like fun.
Charlie: Sounds like a way out of this freakin' penguin suit.
