Show Summary

Scamps is a comedy series created by the father and son team, Lloyd J. Schwartz and Sherwood Schwartz, producers of the hit TV shows Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. Gilligan actor Bob Denver takes the lead role in the series, playing Oliver Hopkins, an unemployed writer living in a spacious house. The season opens with Oliver leaving his agent's office after receiving another script rejection. When his landlord, Mr. Grimsley (Clifford A. Pellow), gives him one week to come up with the rent money, Oliver gets the great idea to open a child day-care center in his home. He employs the help of Miss Pitts (Dena Dietrich), and the two adults manage to fill the house quickly with kids. Oliver thinks that he'll have plenty of time to write, but what he doesn't know is that taking care of kids is serious business. The leaders in the group of naughty children are Sparky (Joseph Lawrence) and Mandy (Dreama Perry Denver), who always seem to get Oliver in trouble. After the kids paint Oliver's fence different colors, the nagging neighbor (Alma Martinez) calls Mr. Grimsley, who advises Oliver that if he catches him running a day-care in his home, he'll be out on the streets.
