I liked these changes, so I'm not complaining. In fact, Scarborough Country was my favorite show during this time...
But in 2006, Joe went from a serious reporter to taking on the role of a comedian. Under the leadership of new MSNBC GM Dan Abrams, the image of "Scarborough Country" dramatically changed. While Scarborough did continue his political segments, the show also featured new segments.
One was "Must See SC" where Joe would take humorous clips from the previous night's late night talk shows and other venues and re-broadcast them to his viewers.
Another was "Scarborough Unplugged" where Joe was featured engaging in humorous acts. One featured Joe cussing to a reporter. Another featured Joe destroying MSNBC video tapes of Laura Ingraham. Another featured Joe dancing in a mock audition for "Dancing with the Stars." Others featured Joe trashing Abrams, Joe talking about his demands as a star, and Joe furious over the fact that MSNBC workers were using his elevator.
The new and improved "Scarborough Country" also featured a segment called "Hollyweird" where Joe would discuss celebrities with entertainment reporters.
We saw Scarborough involved in things we would of never thought he would be involved in like having his producer get drunk on air to see if he could match Mel Gibson's buzz. We saw Scarborough turn into an almost full time funny man and entertainment correspodent.
The comedy stylings of Joe Scarborough has since been abandoned since he started hosting "Morning Joe."moreless
